In 2008, Brian’s life changed when multiple suicide bombers hit his squad during an ambush. He sustained bilateral shoulder injuries, a traumatic brain injury and significant hearing loss in both ears. Following several months of rigorous language, balance and memory therapy, Brian’s recreational therapist encouraged him to look into an upcoming local triathlon. Not only did Brian compete, but he placed third in the event!
Today, Brian resides in Athens, Ohio where he is pursuing an undergraduate degree in Community Health Services at Ohio University. Additionally, he has become an elite triathlete competing for the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund’s “Team Semper Fi” in triathlons nationwide.
